Governor Hope Uzodinma visitation on imo state University

The governor of imo state paid a working visit to the Imo State University (IMSU) for an on the spot inspection of the institution’s facilities.
The Institution which has hitherto been bedeviled with flooding challenges on annual basis, witnessed a flood-free year courtesy of our proactive desilting of Lake Nwaebere. Facilities inspected were the Male and Female hostels including the school mall.
I commend President Muhammadu Buhari for building the school hostels through the TETFUND. I assure Ndị Imo of the commitment of Government towards ensuring a conducive teaching, learning and working environment for the institution’s students and staff.
The Government of Imo State has approved a forensic audit on the Imo State University (IMSU) amidst monumental corrupt practices contained in the report of the Visitation Panel that recently investigated the University’s activities between 2012-2019.
we considered the Whitepaper report of the Visitation Panel on IMSU which was headed by Prof. Chinedu Nebo and approved December 30, 2020 as the date for the end of the tenure of Prof. Obasi as the Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University.
The Council also directed that a Govt Committee be set up to look into the allocation of hectares of land belonging to IMSU to developers &determine how far such developers ‘ve used the allocations to improve the lot of the school &make appropriate recommendations to the govt.
The Executive Council equally approved that henceforth, all admissions into Imo State University(IMSU), should be strictly on merit and that a Committee to handle all admissions be set up under the leadership of the Registrar of the University.
The idea, the Council noted, is to checkmate the level of admission racketeering in the University as reported by the panel.
The Council also directed that a Committee be set up to look into the Prof. Jude Njoku’s Visitation Panel Report on Eastern Palm University and make appropriate recommendations to the Government based on the report within one week.
All those who are running the Institute for Continuing Education Programme (ICEP) as a parallel programme of Imo State University without the approval of the Senate.
On the forthcoming yuletide, the Council agreed to work out a comprehensive action plan on security and traffic control that will ensure that Imo people are secured throughout the season and even beyond.
The idea is for Government to address the controversies surrounding the University, mostly, as they concern its ownership.
