HON. MRS. OBIOMA OKAFOR, DG CONSUMER PROTECTION COUNCIL IMO STATE, RECEIVES THE EXECUTIVE MEMBERS OF MASTER BAKERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA, IMO STATE CHAPTER.
The performing and workaholic Director General of CPC Imo state, today, 2nd June received the members of imo state branch of master Bakers Association of Nigeria in her office at the new CPC office complex at area B new Owerri.
Mrs. Okafor in her opening remarks thanked the members of master Bakers for deeming it fit to visit her, noting that they are the first group of manufacturers to pay her courtesy visit since her appointment as the DG CPC Imo state. She added that she like doing the right thing and has so much respect for those that always abide by the rules. In furtherance, she stated that with their support and prayers CPC Imo state will effectively protect consumers interest as well promote producers that are doing the right thing under her watch as the Director General. The DG, stated that she cannot let Imolites down and the government that appointed her with the sole aim of reviving CPC Imo state.
Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor, lamented that most bakery in the state still operate in an unhygienic environments while some still add substances like bromate in their breads which has impacted negatively on the health of the good people of imo state including tourists and visitors. She pleaded with the executives of master Bakers Association to talk to their members to adhere strictly to the required standards in bread production, because CPC under her watch can not compromise in doing the needful.
The DG said that bread is a spiritual product and one of the commodities widely taken by human beings in the society on daily basis and urged them to carry out their production effectively without giving room for leakages which may endanger the lives of Imolites. She Charged them to see a way of touching lives of Imolites through cooperate social responsibilities.
The chairman master Bakers Association of Nigeria, Imo state branch, Chief Osmond Nkeoma on behalf of his members congratulates Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor for her well-deserved appointment as the Ag. Director General consumer protection council Imo state, he thanked the new DG for granting their request for a courtesy visit to her office. Chief Osmond said Master Bakers Association of Nigeria is an umbrella body covering the entire bread producers in Nigeria.
The chairman also expressed a resounding happiness over the DG’s effort to get CPC Imo state relocated to a conducive environment. He pleaded with the DG to be friendly in dealing with their members in the aspect of enforcement.
He said the association needs more friendly cooperation with CPC Imo state to ensure that they serve the people better with a view to produce breads that are safe for human consumption.
Ichie Sir Hillary Eze, the former south-east/ south-south zonal chairman of the association assured the DG that they will take the good message to their members to be cautious to avoid potential problems and bear in mind that CPC is no longer what it used to be in the past, rather an agency of the government established to advance the lives of our people.
