UTME 2019: Latest JAMB News Roundup For Tuesday 18th June

The management of the University of Ibadan has declared its own cut-off mark remains 200 as against 160 agreed on by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) and stakeholders of higher institutions. Imsugreats reported that JAMB announced on Tuesday that cut-off mark for admission into federal universities will be 160 for 2019. It was gathered that JAMB and stakeholders at the 19th Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria approved 160 and above as the national minimum benchmark for 2019 admission into public universities.

Some candidates who sat the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have criticised the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for alleged errors in their results. JAMB conducted the UTME between April 11 and 18 in about 698 Computer-Based Test centres across Nigeria, with 1.8million candidates taking the exam. The examination results were released on May 11. Contrary to the view that Nigeria’s reformatory/juvenile remand centres are not living up to their billing, 13 Borstal Training Institution Students of Abeokuta, Ogun State, have scored above the 160 cut-off mark set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). IMSUGREATS reports that the public relations officer, Borstal School, Abeokuta, Yusuf Raji, in a statement said, the students who performed well – with the highest scoring 267; 11 scoring above 200 marks and the lowest scoring 188 – also participated in the recent West African Examination Council (WAEC) exam and are expectant of favourable results in order to process their admission into various tertiary institutions in the country.
