The Former President of the Senate, David Mark has urged the federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to take necessary steps toward resolving the industrial action that has crippled public institutions .
In a new year message Senator Mark urged both parties to honour the agreements reached to ensure that the institutions resume session.
He lamented that incessant labour strikes has continued to weaken our economy and put the future of the country in jeopardy and reiterated the need to reverse the trend in the interest of the younger generation.
Senator Mark also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to brace up to the task of conducting free, fair, credible and acceptable elections in 2019 and cautioned politicians against the use of inflammatory languages during the campaigns.
