BREAKING: IMSU LANDLORDS REACH CONSENSUS, AGREE TO RETURN HOSTEL RENTS TO THEIR PREVIOUS PRICES

Landlords of Imo State University off-campus hostels have reached a consensus to return the hostel rents to their previous prices.

The agreement was reached at a high-powered meeting held earlier today with the Ag. Vice Chancellor of IMSU Prof. Peter Achunike Akah at the Senate Chambers.

The meeting is a response to the large outcry of Imo Stars and student leaders following the outrageous increment in the prices of off-campus hostels by the hostel landlords and caretakers.

Present at the meeting which held by 12:30pm today were the Acting Registrar Dr. J.U. Osuagwu, Dean Student Affairs Prof. Martins Uchenna, the 17th republic IMSU SUG executives led by the President Comr. Oguike Arinze Aristotle and alliance presidents.

It was generally agreed that hike in electricity tariff was the reason for the rent increment and after all deliberations back and forth it was agreed that a status quo anthem be maintained.

What this means is that all IMSU students will now renew their rents at the previous amount they did in the year 2020, a resolution that was accepted by all.

Consequently, the Ag. Vice Chancellor directed that the full names of the hostels, landlords and the location of their hostels be submitted to him along with the current electricity consumption of each hostel.

This is a ‘sweet’ victory for all of Imo Stars.

Special recognition must go to the concerted, unwavering and dogged efforts of IMSU comrades in their various capacities, spearheaded by the 17th republic SUG President Comr. Oguike Arinze Collins, for a hard-fought victory.

Congratulations to all IMSU students!
