Rivers Of Blood! Residents Wail As Cultists Burn 3 In Uncompleted Building (Graphic Photos)

Less than 24 hours after a suspected cult leader, Chima Ibe was shot, killed and burnt on Tuesday by gunmen who trailed him to a hub in Alakahia, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, three others have been brutally murdered.

The three men were killed in an uncompleted building at Choba extension, a neighbouring community to Alakahia. Before these incidents, there have been killings and beheading in the two communities despite hosting a Police Area Command.

It was gathered that members of a cult group invaded Alakahia community on Tuesday in search of their rivals as can be seen in the video below.

The cultists caught the alleged cult leader Ibe, for allegedly terrorising the area before setting him ablaze and watched him burn to death.

The incidents have been confirmed by the Rivers state Police Command, which said the killings are cult-related.

In the same vein, The panic  in Alakahia community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, continued on Tuesday, when members of two rival cult groups engaged each other in a fierce gun battle.

The shootout was said to have ensued when a suspected member of one of the cult groups, identified as Ibeh, was set ablaze by a rival group.

It was gathered that Ibeh had been terrorising the area after his father’s death led to a chieftaincy tussle in the community.

Not satisfied with the killing of their member, Ibeh’s group reportedly went into the streets where some of their rivals were residing and engaged them in a shootout.

It was gathered that the entire community was deserted during the gun duel, which happened around 10.30am, even as residents took to their heels in order to avoid being hit by bullets.

An eyewitness said the crossfire lasted for more than 15 minutes as residents locked themselves indoors and only came out after the heat had subsided.

It was learnt that a team of policemen, who came in later, left without making any arrest as those involved in the shootout had stopped when they learnt that the police were around.

A source from the area said, “The sound of the gunshots was deafening; it was as if the entire community was at war. Nobody came out as the cult boys continued to shoot non-stop. The police came in and when the cult members noticed this, the shooting stopped.

“The streets in Alakahia are currently empty after the cult clash about 30 minutes ago. I learnt that a member of one of the cult groups was killed and in retaliation, some cult boys stormed the area and began to shoot at suspected rival cult members.

“As I speak, the shooting has stopped, but the place has been deserted. The police are around now, but I don’t think any arrest has been made, because the police came in after the shooting.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident, but added that he was still waiting to be briefed on it.

“I can confirm the incident, but I don’t have the full details yet,” Omoni said.
