Six persons including two secondary school students have lost their lives in a multiple crash in Nnewi, Anambra state.
The incident occurred when a sewage disposal truck collided with a mini bus and another truck said to be carrying beer,along otolo okigwe road Nnewi,in Nnewi North local government area.
An eye witness said the driver of one of the trucks and a female passenger died instantly while two secondary school students said to be crossing the road were also crushed to death.
He said two other persons later died in a hospital where they were rushed to.
The situation caused panic in the area as angry mobs set ablaze the trucks before the arrival of police patrol attached to Otolo division.
Confirming the incident , the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed said the area had been cordoned off to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
He noted that investigation had also commenced to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident while the injured persons are receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of Akwudo hospital.
The corps have been deposited at the morgue for postmortem while efforts are on to clear the obstructions on the road.
