University of Calgary scholarship 2018 for undergraduate international students

Just so you know, there is no single University of Calgary scholarship, so if you do not meet the requirements of one, there is always another 🙂 Some of them do not even require an additional application on top of the regular application for the university, so that saves you some hassle. Here are some of the options that are available to you:
University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarships. There are two scholarships reserved for international students that enter their first year of an undergraduate programme in the fall. Each is valued at $15,000, with the possibility to earn them for three more years at $15,000 per year. As long as you apply to study at the university, you are automatically considered, so there is no additional application required.

University of Calgary International Entrance Awards. There are 30 awards valued $10,000 each available for first-year international students. It is similar to the previous one, in that it does not require any additional application.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Entrance Scholarships. There are 20 scholarships valued at $3,500 each that are available for those who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program with a minimum score of 35. While this scholarship also involves automatic consideration, you will need to provide a transcript of your International Baccalaureate Diploma grades to the Admissions Office by August 1 of the year you want to begin your studies.
Competitive High School Awards & Bursaries Competition. This is for the people who are entering the university directly from high school. You are eligible for awards from $500 to $8000, provided that you fill out the application on top of your regular university application. The deadline is March 1, and the deadline for submitting documents in March 15.

In addition to the aforementioned scholarships that require little to no effort (granted that you have worked hard before that), there are also special scholarships for people from the CARICOM and ASEAN countries, as well as for people from the Americas (Caribbean, Central, North and South America). This year’s deadline was April 17, 2018, which means that you have missed that, but you can still learn about them and try next year. Here they are:
Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships Program. This is for the people from the Caribbean Community. It offers students from those countries some short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canada. This is available for both undergraduate and graduate applicants.
Canada-Chile Leadership Exchange Scholarship. This scholarship is available for undergraduate and graduate applicants from Chile, and it also offers short-term exchange opportunities.
Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP). Similarly to the previous programmes, this one offers short-term exchange opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, but this one is available for people from a whole list of countries in Americas.
Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED). This is the same programme as the ones we have mentioned before, and it is available for people from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In order to apply to the aforementioned programmes, you do not need to apply to the university first. When the application is open for next year, you will have to submit the necessary documents to a special UCalgary scholarship webform. You can read more about it on the website we have mentioned in the beginning of this article
