BREAKING: Gunshots Reported at Imo State University(IMSU)
Gunshots were heard within the Imo State University premises between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The incident is suspected to be a cult-related clash. While no casualties were reported, the event left several students in shock, prompting some to leave the campus abruptly. A few examinations were also canceled as a result.
The university security personnel swiftly responded, securing the entire campus as they engaged with the suspected cultists.
During the intervention, a Lexus 330 SUV believed to belong to the suspects was recovered.
The suspects reportedly escaped by scaling the school fence before the arrival of armed police officers.
The matter is currently under police investigation. Students are advised to remain calm and avoid panic, as the situation is being handled by the appropriate authorities.
